1530-201-c-2

This printer is of the brand Ricoh. It is a model 4510 with a SR3310 finisher.

It works well with Linux, Mac and Windows.

On modern Ubuntu, a driver for Ricoh 4510 is included in the OS. On Windows you get the driver when you install the printer, in both cases we refer to https://au.dk/print

Using driver on Mac

Macs print just fine on 1530-201-c-2 using a standard generic PostScript driver (do remember to manually enable duplex (double sided printing). See also our page on Mac Print (which got lost at the AU level).

If you want to use the Ricoh driver (from their website) and you are using AUIT Utility to install printers on your Mac, you will run into a small problem. Ricoh has chosen to not give their driver files (PPD files) any extension (like most other printer brands do) and thus AUIT Utility cannot find the drivers. AUIT Utility needs to be updated, but as that is not a high priority at the moment (at AUIT), here is what you can do manually.

  • First install the Ricoh driver
  • Next open a terminal
  • Run: cd /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources
  • List the contents via: ls -l
  • Among the files listed you should see RICOH IM C4510 (or similar)
  • Run the following command: sudo gzip "RICOH IM C4510"
    – the "..." are because the file has spaces in the name, you can also just escape the spaces using \
  • This now gives us RICOH IM C4510.gz which is a file type AUIT Utility is looking for (in its currenct version)
  • Restart AUIT Utility (or reboot).
  • Next install 1530-201-c-2 via AUIT Utility, when it comes to driver selection, Generic PostScript should now be a dropdown, where one can choose Ricoh 4510 (if it did not already choose it)
  • After installation, goto options of the printer.
  • In the Options Tab, choose
    • Option tray: Tray 3 (LCT)
    • Large Capacity Tray: Installed
    • Internal Tray 2: Installed (???)
    • Finisher: SR3310
